Meraki cafe is one of the newer cafes on the block in University Heights, San Diego. The café’s name, Meraki, in Greek means “to do something with passion, love or creativity or to put something of yourself in your work”. This is exactly what the café owner, April has been doing, since the café opened mid-June.
When you arrive at the café you are first “greeted” by a very tall cactus that is more than a hundred years old. Upon entering the café, April greets you with a friendly smile and the daily specials.
Their menu offers a variety of meals, from sandwiches, croissants, bagels, waffles, smoothies, muffins and acai bowls. The nutty acai bowl and zucchini muffins were my favourite. Other than the amazing food and service, the café also offers great coffee. The coffee beans are from an organic roasting company and Meraki is currently the only place San Diego where you are able to find this.
Free Wi-Fi is offered to all clients while enjoying the delicious items Meraki has to offer. The café boasts with a uniquely relaxing vibe, with seating either inside or out depending on your preference or the weather.
I highly recommend popping into Meraki for a bite or beverage.
